Super Powers is definitely a continuation of the great connection observable between 64 and eighty, however it brings something brand new to the table that heightened my anticipation of it: guest tracks from four of the most notable names in “second generation” nerdcore hiphop today: Beefy, YTCracker, ZeaLouS1, and MC Wreckshin of Emergency Pizza Party. Whether you have the track by Beefy that all his fans have been anticipating for a while (a song that samples the theme from Scrubs), a touching balad by Z1 about his father, a YT song rich in Marvel comic references and wordplay, or Wreckshin's track that touches a bit deeper than you might have guessed, there is definitely nothing lacking from the Fantastic Four chosen by Dual Core to represent on their new album; and, as always, the Dual Core songs are no lightweights, either.
The first track, Super Powers Theme Tune is a great intro track, where you'll already catch yourself bobbing your head. Eighty drops names like Tetris, heavy in comics and gaming origins, but still shows the underlying comp sci / hacking roots. I don't want to give away too much of the album, because I thoroughly encourage everyone to go check out their website, dualcoremusic.com and buy it for yourself. This is a great continuation from Dual Core, and I can't wait to see what else they have in store for all of us.
